We built it for a two-person team.
Ours.
ShareMail started as an internal tool. It is made by VeloTech LLC, which is two people, and it has run our own support inbox every day since we built it.
The problem was ours first
Two of us answering one support address, quietly stepping on each other. Both replying to the same email. Forwarding threads to each other to ask "did you take this one?" Pasting customer emails into chat to talk about them, so the conversation lived in one place and the decision about it lived somewhere else.
So we went shopping, and everything was either overpriced or overloaded. Platforms at $25 to $65 a seat, most of it aimed at support organisations with a head of support and an escalation policy. We wanted one thing: a way to be on the same page in a shared inbox. We were not going to pay several hundred dollars a month for the privilege, and we did not want to move our mail out of Gmail to get it.
What that decided
Building for ourselves settled the architecture before it settled anything else. Gmail stays the system of record. We are not in the delivery path, we do not ingest your archive, and leaving means disconnecting rather than migrating. That is not a feature we added; it is the shape of the thing.
It also settled the price. We run no mail infrastructure, so a collaboration layer costs less to operate than an email platform, and that difference goes into the price rather than a margin. A three-person team pays the same per seat as a three-hundred-person one.
And it settled the scope. Every feature we build has to earn its place on a screen the two of us look at all day. That is a harder test than a roadmap meeting, and it is why the product is small.
On AI
We are not against it, and we are building with it. What we are against is being charged more per seat for AI we did not switch on. So it is a bolt-on with its own flat price, billed only while it is running, and every plan works completely without it. If you never turn it on you never pay for it, and nothing about your inbox is worse.
Where we are
Honestly: early. The product is real and in production, and signups are not open yet. We have written down what we will and will not do to you as customers on the pledge, before we have any customers to be tempted by. That felt like the right order.
There are two of us. If you email us, one of us reads it.
