ShareMail vs Front
Front is a good product wrapped in an expensive platform. If what your team actually needs is a shared inbox on top of Gmail, you are paying for a lot of surface you will never open, and, since 2026, paying separately for the AI.
What Front does well
- Genuine omnichannel: SMS, WhatsApp, social and voice alongside email
- A large integration library and mature analytics, CSAT and QA tooling
- The collaboration model itself is good: comments, assignments and shared drafts are what everyone in this category copied
Their pricing, as published
Starter $25/seat/mo (max 10 seats, one channel type, 10 rules), Professional $65 (max 50 seats, 20 rules), Enterprise $105, all billed annually. AI is sold on top: Copilot $20/seat/mo, Smart QA $20/seat/mo, Smart CSAT $10/seat/mo, Autopilot from $0.05 per conversation.
Side by side
| ShareMail | Front | |
|---|---|---|
| Entry price | $6/user/mo, every feature included | $25/seat/mo annually, capped at 10 seats and one channel type |
| Top price | $19/user/mo, less than their entry plan | $105/seat/mo |
| AI | Not in the product and not in your seat price. If we ship it, it is an opt-in bolt-on | Copilot $20/seat/mo, Smart QA $20/seat/mo, Smart CSAT $10/seat/mo, Autopilot from $0.05 a conversation |
| Automation rules | Unlimited, on every plan including the $6 one | 10 rules on Starter, 20 on Professional |
| Feature gating | None. Plans differ by seats and services, never features | Channels, rule counts, API rate limits and AI all move with the tier |
| Contractors and part-timers | Free unlimited collaborator seats: comment, get @mentioned, take assignments | A full seat each |
| Where your email lives | In your Gmail. ShareMail is a layer on top and never becomes the system of record | Ingested into Front's own store |
| Mail delivery path | Untouched. Gmail sends and receives, we never sit in the path | Front sends through its own infrastructure |
| If you leave | Disconnect. Your mail is already in Gmail; comments, tags and assignments export in full | Export what their plan allows, then migrate |
Front column: their published pricing and documentation, read September 2026 (source). Pricing and packaging change, so verify current terms with Front directly before you decide. ShareMail's column describes the product as it runs today plus the commitments in our pledge; anything not yet shipped says so. Front customers also report, in public Trustpilot reviews (TrustScore 1.9/5 across 295 reviews, accessed August 2026), that seats cannot be reduced mid-term and that access to history ends with the subscription. Those are customer accounts, not our measurements, so read them yourself before deciding.
Choose Front if…
You need real omnichannel (WhatsApp, social, voice) or enterprise CSAT, QA and analytics, and the seat price is not the constraint.
Choose ShareMail if…
Your team answers email out of Gmail, you want comments, assignments, shared drafts and rules on top of it, and you would rather not pay per seat for a platform, or for AI you did not ask for. The whole inbox is on every plan, from $6 a seat.
