What we shipped

Newest first. Everything listed is running in production today; nothing here is a roadmap.

Two layouts, docs, and integrations

  • New Choose your layout: a Gmail-style full-width table, or split panes. Asked during setup and changeable in Settings, and it is per person, so two teammates can each use the one they are fluent in.
  • Better Unread conversations are brighter with bold text and read ones sit a shade below them, the way Gmail does it. A list now tells you what needs attention before you read any of it.
  • New Documentation at /docs: short pages on connecting an inbox, assignments, comments, shared drafts, search, triage, rules, roles and analytics.
  • New Stripe in the right-hand panel: a customer emails and you see their plan, renewal date, last invoice and whether they owe you money, without opening another tab.
  • New Slack and Discord notifications. Mentions and assignments post into your channel, subject lines only, and personal inboxes never appear there.

Team reporting, and an operator console

  • New Analytics for the shared inbox: conversations handled, replies sent, median first response time, what is still open and how long the oldest thing has waited. On every plan. Breaking the same numbers down by teammate is on Business.
  • New Owners can change a teammate’s role from Settings → Teammates. Promoting an admin used to mean editing the database.
  • Better Em dashes are gone from every message the product shows you. They read as machine-written, and this one is written by two people.

A first run that explains itself

  • New A setup wizard at first sign-in: connect Gmail, name your shared inbox, invite the team, and optionally archive everything older than a date you pick so the queue starts empty.
  • New The new-message composer is full size, with attachments, Cc and Bcc, a Gmail-style formatting bar, signatures, templates and send-later.
  • Fixed @mentions now reach you whether or not the conversation is assigned to you, and the Mentions count updates live instead of dropping the last change in a burst.
  • Fixed Opening a conversation marks it read on every route into it, including deep links, search results and the command palette.

Two kinds of shared inbox

  • New A shared inbox can be an assignment queue (the badge counts what nobody owns) or a general inbox (the badge counts your unread, the way Gmail does). Set it per inbox.
  • Better Teammates watching a shared draft see the assignee’s edits arrive live, with no reload.

Comments that feel like a conversation

  • New Internal comments are chat bubbles with reactions, pin-to-top, and reply-with-quote on hover. Mentions highlight as you type and Enter posts.
  • Better The right rail is the tools rail: notifications on top, then context views, with search, theme and shortcuts at the foot. The left rail stays inbox navigation.
  • Better Profile photos render everywhere an avatar appears, and the workspace name and icon brand the top of the sidebar.

Running on its own domain

  • Better ShareMail moved to its own infrastructure with a staging environment, automated backups, and push notification from Gmail rather than polling alone.

The floating-pane layout

  • Better List, reader and context panes became one card on a canvas, with the comment bar pinned to the foot of the thread instead of hiding inside the reply box.

Analytics, and an export that means it

  • New Every action is on one activity timeline, with per-day charts and a recent-activity feed.
  • New Export everything ShareMail adds to Gmail (comments, tags, assignments and the full audit history) as a zip, at any time, including after you cancel. Your mail is not in it because it never left Gmail.

Search that covers what your team said

  • New Search spans internal comments as well as mail, with an in:comments operator. The answer someone wrote in a note months ago is one query away.
  • Better Your own inbox splits into Open, Subscribed and your personal mail, so the conversations you actually own stop competing with the ones you are only watching.

Bulk actions and merge

  • New Select several conversations for one action, and merge duplicate threads from the same sender into one.

Workspace colours

  • New Pick an accent colour for the workspace, or your own. Avatars and inbox dots follow it.

Drafts stop making noise

  • Fixed Saving a draft no longer flips a read thread back to unread or pushes it to the top of the list. A draft is not activity.
  • New Edit a shared draft in Gmail and ShareMail adopts the change, so the two never disagree about what you wrote.
